Things to do ... Places to go ... People to meet

The West Coast of New Zealand's South Island offers so much more than scenery and awesome natural wonders, from watching the dolphins or bird life, to waiting for that brown trout to take the lure and run or hunting in our dripping wet, moss covered forests.

Rugged Coast Line
the beautifully rugged West Coast

For the more adventurous the Coast offers the wet and muddy weekend as you take on the off road trails on a 4x4 quad bike, or head for the rivers and whitewater rafting, cave rafting or a Jet Boat Tour unlike any other.

Experience first hand the thrill of finding 'colour' as you pan for gold, wander over former mining claims and learn how those pioneers lived, worked and played.

You can get away from the noise and urban life for a break on any of the Coasts 1000's of kilometres of walks and tracks covering some of New Zealand's most scenic lakes, rivers, mountain regions, historic places and ruggedly beautiful beaches.

Perhaps you prefer to take a nature tour or get off the beaten track and explore the Coast, our towns, ghost towns and history.

And of course only on the West Coast can you experience the Pancake Cake Rocks, Franz Josef Glacier or Fox Glacier and two of the most awesome scenic drives in New Zealand, the Buller Gorge Road and our Scenic Coast Road.

You are only limited by your ability.

So what are you waiting for? An invitation?

Then you are invited and welcome to visit us in the
youngest region of the youngest country on earth.
